Thank you for considering adoption through PAWS of Adams County!
Opening your heart to a rescue animal is one of the most rewarding decisions you can make. Not only will you gain a loyal companion, but you'll also be giving a deserving pet a second chance at a happy, loving life.
If you find a pet you're interested in, simply complete our Adoption Application. Once your application has been submitted, one of our volunteer application specialists will review it and contact you as soon as possible.
Please note: Not all of our available animals are listed on our website. Be sure to visit our Facebook page to see additional adoptable pets and our newest arrivals.
Our Adoption Process
Before adoption, every PAWS animal receives age-appropriate veterinary care to help ensure they are healthy and ready for their new home.

Before adoption, our cats and kittens will be:

Adoption Fees
Kittens (Under 1 Year) — $80
Young Adults (1 Year & Older) — $40

🐶 Dogs & Puppies
Before adoption, our dogs and puppies receive:

Many of our dogs live in foster homes where they receive love, socialization, and help with crate training, potty training, basic manners, and building confidence when needed.
Adoption Fees
Puppies (Under 1 Year) — $350
Young Adults (1–3 Years) — $300
Adults (Over 3 Years) — $250
Seniors (10 Years & Older) — $200
Please note: An additional $100 will be added if a recent dental procedure has been completed.

Meet Fife!
Old man Fife is a 8 year old dachshund/JRT mix. This sweet little guy has a lot of love to share❤️🐾.
Fife might be a little frosty faced but he still has a lot of energy left! He loves to play with his young foster siblings and occasionally gets the zoomies, enticing his siblings to play.
When he gets tired from playtime, Fife loves attention from his people and loves to snuggle. He will slowly crawl over to you asking for pets and belly rubs.
Fife does have Addison’s disease that’s managed by daily prednisone and a monthly zycortal injection.
Fife is crate trained and potty trained. He gets along well with other dogs. He has not been cats or kid tested at this time. Fife does great on a leash and loves going on walks!
Fife is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heart-worm negative, and on regular heartworm prevention.

Meet Doc!
🦉Doc is the last of the Seven Dwarf puppies that is still waiting on his very own family. He is a 5 month old brindle pit mix puppy. His mom is Snow White and his dad is Prince. They are both incredibly sweet and friendly Pitbull mixes, also up for adoption, by the way.
🐇Doc LOVES food. He is also good with other dogs, cats and great with kids. He is currently working on crate training, potty training and walking on leash.
🦔Doc has been microchipped, started on heartworm prevention, dewormed and fully vaccinated. You can foster to adoptthis adorable puppy in your own home! Adoption will be completed when he is neutered 6 months of age.

Meet Jelly Bean!
🍬Jelly Bean is a 6 month old Whippet/terrier mix puppy. She is currently 32 pounds. Jelly Bean and her brother, Gummy Bear, are anxiously waiting for their special family to pick them. Their 3 sisters and mom have all already been adopted.
🍬Jelly Bean LOVES people. She is fine with other dogs, great with kids and good with cats. She likes to be held and give kisses but also likes to play and race around the yard.
🍬Jelly Bean is doing great with potty training, crate training, and leash walking. She has been microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, on heartworm prevention and fully vaccinated. She is scheduled to be spayed on 6/9.

Meet Ellie!
👛Ellie is a 4 year old Redbone coonhound. She weighs 75 pounds and is a very boisterous girl! Ellie is strong when walking on leash when her nose gets the best of her or something excites her. Her idea of greeting you includes running directly at you at full speed and flinging herself into the air as if you are going to re-create the famous lift from Dirty Dancing. She’s not sorry about it either. Once she settles down she gives great hugs and gentle kisses. This one’s eyes will look deep into your soul. LOVES food.
💄Ellie is not cut out for the apartment life - she talks back… a lot. A physical fenced in yard is preferred to keep her safe from her own nose getting her into trouble. Ellie likes other dogs but sometimes Ellie can be too much for the other dog at first. Certain dogs she just decides that she does not like and there’s no convincing her otherwise. She is fine with kids but again; she is rambunctious and 75 pounds. Cats, depending on their behaviors, are not recommended.
👡Ellie is potty trained, working on crate training and rides well in the car. She is very smart and would do well with some obedience training - especially if there is treats involved.
💅🏼Ellie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. Ellie was treated for Lyme disease and bacteria in her left ear.

Meet Rosie!
Say hello to Rosie! She is estimated to be a 2 year old mixed breed. She weighs 40 pounds. Rosie is full of energy and LOVES to play with her furry friends. She is a little shy with people at first but once she warms up to you; she will melt your heart with her sweet personality. Rosie walks great on leash and also rides wonderfully in the car.
Rosie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. She is currently working on basic commands but is kennel trained and potty trained.

💄Meet Maybelline💄!
She is a 12.5 lb, 1 year old chihuahua/rat terrier mix that is equal parts energy and cuddle bug. While she starts off very shy, once she gets to know you, she's all love.
Maybelline is doing really well with her house training and does well in a crate. She does whine when placed in the crate initially and does not go in on her own currently. Maybelline loves other dogs and is very playful but we are not sure how she is with cats or kids at this time. She will need work on leash training.
Maybelline is a chewer, so she needs to have appropriate items that she can chew available. Maybelline came in with siblings, L’Oréal and Aramis, and her mom, Revlon.

👑Meet Prince 👑!
💙Prince is a 2 year old, 68 pound pit bull mix. He appears to maybe have some American Bulldog in him? We pulled him along with Snow White and their 7 Dwarf puppies from the Indianapolis where they were “strays” so age and breeds are both estimated based on looks and health. Snow White and all of the puppies have found their homes except Doc.
💚Prince is a very friendly, easy going guy. He is great with other dogs big and small, doesn’t mind cats and good with kids. He is crate trained and potty trained, walks well on leash and rides well in the car.
💜Prince is a good mix of goofy/playful and couch potato. He would love a home were he can lounge on the couch, play with another dog and cuddle with you in bed - make note: your spot in bed is his spot if you don’t beat him to it! Prince would love to have a doggie companion that he can cuddle and play with!
💛Prince is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. Prince is more than ready for his forever home!

🐡Meet Nemo🐡!
🐙Nemo is a 30 pound, 1.5 year old border collie mix. We were told his mom had some German shepherd in her. Nemo was very shutdown when he first came in but has made great strides over time. He has learned to walk on leash and rides well in a car; just lays in the back seat.
🪼Nemo is great with other dogs and would benefit from having another dog in the home. He definitely follows the lead of other dogs and loves to play chase and tug of war with them as well! He can be vocal when he plays. Nemo does require a physically fenced in yard. He also doesn’t mind cats but younger children may make him nervous.
🐠Nemo is crate trained and mostly potty trained but still having accidents in his crate at times while his foster mom is at work. He is not having any accidents in the house while he is loose while his foster mom is home or at night. He is currently sleeping in bed with his foster mom but is capable of sleeping in his crate too.
🦑Nemo is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested negative and on monthly heartworm prevention.

🫧Aramis🫧!
He is a 14 lb, 1 year old chihuahua/rat terrier mix that LOVES to play play play! He is a very outgoing little guys!
Aramis is currently potty trained to a doggie door. We have not started house or crate training with him yet. Right now, Aramis believes the leash is the perfect toy for tug of war so he will still need work on leash training.
Aramis came in with siblings, Maybelline and L’Oréal, and his mom, Revlon. He is good with other dogs and we see no reason that he wouldn’t be just fine with cats and kids.
Aramis is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm prevention.

She is a 16 lb, 2.5 year old chihuahua/rat terrier mix that can be shy at first but is calm and sweet once she gets to know you and loves chin scratches.
Revlon is currently potty trained to a doggie door. We have not started house or crate training with her yet. She is doing pretty good walking on leash but will still need work on leash training.
Revlon came in with her 3 puppies: Maybelline, L’Oréal and Aramis. She is good with other dogs and see no reason why she wouldn’t also be good with cats and kids.
Revlon is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm prevention.

Meet Maverick!
Is it a white fox? A little white pig? No, it’s Maverick, aka Babe.
🩵Maverick is an 11 month old, 17 pound Mini Australian Shepherd.
He is a double Merle, which means that he is the product of irresponsible breeding. So,he comes with a few quirks: he’s had a deformed back leg amputated, and was born with only one eye. His other eye and hearing may be slightly affected, but he does not let these deficits slow him down! He also has genetic kidney disease which is controlled with a prescription food. He needs to stay on this diet to support his kidneys.
🩵Maverick loves to be with people, including children, and wants to greet cats, but his life is playing with toys and other dogs, no matter what size. This little tripod is fast on three legs. While loves to be right by your side, he will need a physical fence, as he tends to lose sight of his person and take off in the wrong direction.
🩵Maverick is a chameleon and will do just about anything his humans are doing. He loves leash walks and car rides, but is just as content being a couch potato. He is potty trained and does well in his crate.
🩵Maverick is up to date on vaccines, on heartworm prevention, microchipped, and neutered. Please look into his breed, so you know what to expect with this adorable little man! Do not let his issues stop you from considering him! He is an absolute doll who will make a wonderful companion.
