Paws of Adams County has several pets for adoption! If you find one you are interested in you can submit an application, which you can find one here. Without a doubt, when you adopt a rescue dog, puppy, cat or kitten will put an instant smile on your face and you gain a wonderful companion! Once you fill out an application one of our application specialists will contact you as soon as possible. Not all animals are posted her. Please see our Facebook page for more.
All of our cats/kittens will have all their vaccines updated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and feLV/Fiv tested before adoption.
Kittens Under 1 yr. $80
Young Adults 1 yr. or older $40
Seniors Over 11 yrs. $20
All of our dogs and puppies will be updated on their normal vetting including vaccines, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and heartworm tested, as well as on a heartworm preventative, before adoption. They all live in foster homes and have been socialized with work on crate training, potty training and trust (if needed).

Young Adults 1 to 3 years - $300
Adults over 3 yrs. $250
Seniors over 10 yrs. $200
$100 will be added if a recent dental was done.

Meet Fife!
Old man Fife is a 8 year old dachshund/JRT mix. This sweet little guy has a lot of love to share❤️🐾.
Fife might be a little frosty faced but he still has a lot of energy left! He loves to play with his young foster siblings and occasionally gets the zoomies, enticing his siblings to play.
When he gets tired from playtime, Fife loves attention from his people and loves to snuggle. He will slowly crawl over to you asking for pets and belly rubs.
Fife does have Addison’s disease that’s managed by daily prednisone and a monthly zycortal injection.
Fife is crate trained and potty trained. He gets along well with other dogs. He has not been cats or kid tested at this time. Fife does great on a leash and loves going on walks!
Fife is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heart-worm negative, and on regular heartworm prevention.

Meet Nemo!
🐙Nemo is a 7 month old puppy weighing 27 pounds currently. He should be around 40 pounds full grown. Nemo is a border collie mix. We were told his mom had some German shepherd in her.
🪼He is great with other dogs and would benefit from having another dog in the home. He is still coming out of his shell and learning so for now, Nemo does require a physically fenced in yard. He is making great strides at potty training and walking on leash.

Meet Tucker!
Tucker is a 25 pound, 4 year old terrier mix. He takes a while to warm up and get comfortable and is not an overly affectionate dog. He is pretty easygoing as far as his daily activity and needs. Tucker has so far shown very little interest in toys but has just recently started to try playing with the resident dog in his foster home. He likes other dogs, cats, and kids.
Tucker is mostly housebroken and crate trained. He does well out of the crate during the day and sleeps with his foster mom at night; however, he is also capable of crating during the day and/or at night as well!
As said, Tucker is very shy. He is afraid of new noises, new situations, and new people. He needs someone who is willing to take the time to allow him to get comfortable in his new surroundings. Due to this, Tucker needs a physical fenced in yard and another dog in the home to be his companion.

Meet Doc!
🦉Doc is the last of the Seven Dwarf puppies that is still waiting on his very own family. He is a 5 month old brindle pit mix puppy. His mom is Snow White and his dad is Prince. They are both incredibly sweet and friendly Pitbull mixes, also up for adoption, by the way.
🐇Doc LOVES food. He is also good with other dogs, cats and great with kids. He is currently working on crate training, potty training and walking on leash.

Meet Jelly Bean!
🍬Jelly Bean is a 6 month old Whippet/terrier mix puppy. She is currently 32 pounds. Jelly Bean and her brother, Gummy Bear, are anxiously waiting for their special family to pick them. Their 3 sisters and mom have all already been adopted.
🍬Jelly Bean LOVES people. She is fine with other dogs, great with kids and good with cats. She likes to be held and give kisses but also likes to play and race around the yard.
🍬Jelly Bean is doing great with potty training, crate training, and leash walking. She has been microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, on heartworm prevention and fully vaccinated. She is scheduled to be spayed on 6/9.

Meet Nelson!

👛Ellie is a 4 year old Redbone coonhound. She weighs 75 pounds and is a very boisterous girl! Ellie is strong when walking on leash when her nose gets the best of her or something excites her. Her idea of greeting you includes running directly at you at full speed and flinging herself into the air as if you are going to re-create the famous lift from Dirty Dancing. She’s not sorry about it either. Once she settles down she gives great hugs and gentle kisses. This one’s eyes will look deep into your soul. LOVES food.
💄Ellie is not cut out for the apartment life - she talks back… a lot. A physical fenced in yard is preferred to keep her safe from her own nose getting her into trouble. Ellie likes other dogs but sometimes Ellie can be too much for the other dog at first. Certain dogs she just decides that she does not like and there’s no convincing her otherwise. She is fine with kids but again; she is rambunctious and 75 pounds. Cats, depending on their behaviors, are not recommended.
👡Ellie is potty trained, working on crate training and rides well in the car. She is very smart and would do well with some obedience training - especially if there is treats involved.
💅🏼Ellie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. Ellie was treated for Lyme disease and bacteria in her left ear.

Meet Gemma!
Gemma is a beautiful 6-year-old 14 lb. Poodle with the sweetest, most gentle soul. While we don't know her full story, we believe she may have spent much of her life being used for breeding. When she came into our care, our veterinarian noted that she had likely recently had puppies and that they had already been weaned.
When Gemma was found, her condition was heartbreaking. Her coat was severely neglected, and she simply laid there as if she had lost hope. But hidden beneath all of that neglect was something truly beautiful. Once she was shaved and cleaned up, we uncovered a precious gem, which is exactly how she got her name. She bears a striking resemblance to our former rescue, Monet, and we can't help but wonder if they may have come from the same place.
Despite whatever life has handed her, she has remained nothing but loving. This precious girl absolutely adores people. She craves affection and soaks up every bit of love and attention she receives as though she has been waiting her entire life for it. She wants nothing more than to be close to her people and is learning, perhaps for the very first time, what it truly means to be a cherished family member instead of simply existing.
She is a kind and sensitive little soul who can become worried when left behind, likely because she never wants to lose the wonderful people who have shown her love and kindness.
She gets along wonderfully with cats and dogs of all sizes. She truly is a special little girl who deserves a lifetime of soft beds, gentle hands, and unconditional love.
She has started her veterinary care and is scheduled to be spayed soon. She is available through our foster-to-adopt program while she completes her vetting.
She will need patience as she continues to learn potty and leash training.
Also a Poodle, Gemma will require regular grooming to keep her healthy, comfortable, and looking her best.
Gemma has spent far too many years giving to others. Now it's her turn to be loved, cherished, and spoiled the way every dog should be. Could you be the family that shows her what happily ever after looks like?

🏎️ Bo is 4 months old and is a typical puppy. He loves to play, and play, and play! He's always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure. Bo loves to explore and learn new things. He’s super smart and has already learned “sit”. He is more than willing to learn more new things with his new family. Bo gets along fine with other dogs. He has not met any cats yet.
🏎️Both boys are VERY treat motivated and learn super quick. They are both working on potty training are already making great strides. They both easily go to their kennel especially if you have treats in your hand.
🏎️The boys have started their vaccinations and are microchipped. Luke is neutered, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm prevention. Bo will be neutered at a later date when he is old enough. They will receive their booster vaccines on 7/7.
The boys are not bonded and do not need to go together.

Whether you're watching TV, working in the yard, or just relaxing on the couch, Luke wants to be part of whatever you're doing. Leash walking is a work in progress. He doesn’t quite understand what it is yet but with consistency, he is starting to get the hang of it. Luke gets along fine with other dogs with slow introductions, he has not met any cats yet.
🏎️Both boys are VERY treat motivated and learn super quick. They are both working on potty training are already making great strides. They both easily go to their kennel especially if you have treats in your hand.

Meet Prince!
💙Prince is a 2 year old, 68 pound pit bull mix. He appears to maybe have some American Bulldog in him? We pulled him along with Snow White and their 7 Dwarf puppies from the Indianapolis where they were “strays” so age and breeds are both estimated based on looks and health. All of the puppies have found their homes except Doc.
💚Prince is a very friendly, easy going guy. He is great with other dogs big and small, doesn’t mind cats and good with kids. He is crate trained and potty trained, walks well on leash and rides well in the car.
💜Prince is a good mix of goofy/playful and couch potato. He would love a home were he can lounge on the couch, play with another dog and cuddle with you in bed - make note: your spot in bed is his spot if you don’t beat him to it!
